Last year, our interpreter of the month Gentjana had an experience she will never forget: She had the opportunity to interpret for HRH Princess Eugenie!

In November 2021, one of our amazing clients, the crisis charity Hestia, hosted an art exhibition featuring work created by the survivors of modern slavery. Princess Eugenie visited the exhibit in her role as co-founder of The Anti-Slavery Collective.

Hestia used Clear Voice’s face-to-face interpreting service to help the princess communicate with the artists and Gentjana was our interpreter on the day.

When did you find out you would be interpreting for the princess?

When I arrived! I knew I was interpreting for an event with Hestia, and I knew there would be a special guest. It was in an interesting location and there was dress code. But I had no idea who it was

And then when I arrived, it was Princess Eugenie. I was stunned. I was so shocked because Hestia couldn’t tell me until the last minute for security reasons.

What was it like interpreting for the princess?

She was so down to earth and made it so easy. I was by Eugenie’s side so she could listen to my voice as she had face-to-face interactions with the artists. They explained their art and spoke about their inspiration, which I interpreted for her.

It was a very nice experience. The setting, everyone there, it was very exciting. It was something I never imagined would happen, that I never thought of.
